USEFUL INFORMATIONS

PDF writing aid > Adobe Photoshop

Please do not write PDF directly from Photoshop, because the result is often unprocessable by th RIP softwares. It is more appropriate to import the PSD, or the EPS file (saved from Photoshop with the following settings) to a DTP software, and write a PDF from there.

1. SAVE AS WINDOW

Choose “Photoshop EPS (*.EPS)” format, uncheck “Use Proof Setup” and “ICC Profile” options.

2. EPS OPTIONS WINDOW

Set “Preview” to “TIFF (8 bits/pixel)”, “Encoding” is “Binary”, “Include Vector Data” must be set to on (it is only avaiable when your graphics contains text or other vector objects).

If you cannot import the PSD or EPS into other DTP software, try to save PDF directly from Photoshop with these settings:

1. SAVE AS WINDOW

Set “Layers”, “Use Proof Setup” and “ICC Profile” off by uncheck it’s box.

2. GENERAL WINDOW

Set the “Default Settings” tab to factory setting “[Press Quality]”. Set “Compatibility” to “Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3)”, uncheck “Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities”.

3. COMPRESSION WINDOW

If the below settings are visible to you, do not make any changes to this window.

4. OUTPUT WINDOW

Set “Color Conversion” to “No Conversion”, “Profile Inclusion Policy” must be “Don’t Include Profiles”-ra.

Do not make any changes to the "Security" and "Summary" windows.
One important thing is that with saving PDF directly from Photoshop, your PDF will not contains Trim or Bleed box, nor trim marks, so it's better to import, and then write PDF from another DTP software.
